Further 'Sunset Boulevard' Cast - Announcement

Further casting has recently been announced for the forthcoming National tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's critically acclaimed and Tony Award-winning musical 'Sunset Boulevard'. Television and musical theatre personality Danny Mac is set to play the role of Joe Gillis alongside Ria Jones in the role of Norma Desmond. 'Sunset Boulevard' is one of my favourite musical scores.

Danny Mac known for his role in the hit soap drama 'Hollyoaks' and recent appearance on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing getting into to the final. Danny has recently completed 'On The Town' at The Regents Park Open Air Theatre.

'Sunset Boulevard' is one of the all-time greatest musicals by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Based on Billy Wilder’s legendary film, with Don Black and Christopher Hampton’s wonderful book and lyrics. Sunset Boulevard tells the tale of romance and obsession; this much-adored score includes the title number "Sunset Boulevard", "With One Look", "As If We Never Said Goodbye" and "The Perfect Year".

The musical is set at the actresses’ mansion on the Sunset Boulevard, Norma Desmond, lives in a fantasy world. Hopeful screenwriter Joe Gillis is on the run from debt collectors and stumbles into the reclusive world of Norma Desmond. He is persuaded to work on Norma’s a film with a script that she believes will put back to being a superstar, he is seduced by her and her high-class life-style. Joe becomes entrapped in this world until his love for another woman leads him to try and break free with dramatic consequences.

The tour begins its run at The Leister Curve Theatre this September, before moving onto venues around the UK and Ireland.

 Stage Door Joe:

My name is Joseph; I am a Musical Theatre degree student. I am passionate about musicals, if you can't already tell! I have had the opportunity to see many musicals both in London and touring productions. Those who know me will recognise that I can often be spotted at the stage door, meeting cast members and grabbing a selfie or two. I shall use this as a platform to review musicals and keep regular updates from in and around the West End.
