  • 3 min read

I am fortunate to have so many acquaintences and friends both in training and within the theatre industry, Felipe Bejarano is just one of them. Currently performing in Legally Blonde (UK Tour). When I approached Felipe with my questions he was more than happy to answer. Felipe also featured in the first Instagram takerover @stagedoorjoe.

  • Singing or Dancing?

Singing but love to dance.

  • List your theatre credits.

Mamma Mia- Ensemble

Peter Pan- Pirate

Curtains- Bobby Pepper

Legally Blonde- Sundeep/Nikos & Cover Kyle

Strictly Come Dancing- Dancer

Snow White- Ensemble

  • Where did you train?

Trained at Laine Theatre Arts.

  • Do you have any pre show rituals?

Rituals - drink lots of water and always go to the gym before a show! Food is also a must.

  • What is your favourite part of the Legally Blonde?

Favourite part of legally blonde is whipped into shape with the skipping ropes.

  • What is your favourite musical?

West Side Story.

  • What was the first musical you performed in? And how old were you?

The first musical I performed in was Sound of Music when I was in high school. Year 8.

  • Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Eating is definitely a guilty pleasure. It's constant.

  • What do you do when you are off from a show?

When I off the show I do nothing that involves theatre! Chill with friends or go gym, that sort of thing.

  • What is your proudest moment so far?

Proudest moment(s) when you see a pal book a job they've been wanting to for years

  • Dream part of the opposite sex?

Effie White hahaha.

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

Sounds cliché but my mum.

  • What advice would you give aspiring performers/auditions/recalls?

With regards to advice and auditioning, when you walk in the room they won't know your strengths and weaknesses quite like you do so always, always, always be confident in yourself and give the best audition. Also, don't over speak.

  • If you could have your own musical/play who would you want to headline it?

No way. I think the only person that could pull that off would be Lin Manuel Miranda.

  • Describe yourself in three words.

Always, extremely, hungry.

  • If you could pick your ultimate role to play what would it be?

Bernardo, West Side Story or to be in the ensemble Of 'On Your Feet'.

  • What was the last production you saw?

The last show I saw was 'Son of a Preacher Man’ U.K. tour directed by Craig Revel Horwood.

  • What does theatre mean to you?

Putting it simply it means income, Haha!

  • What is your favorite number in Legally Blonde and why?

Whipped into shape because of the cool effects we have. Can't quite reveal what that is at the moment.

  • How does Legally Blonde stand out in your opinion or compare to your previous shows?

Legally is upbeat like mamma Mia but the genre of music is very different. There's more varied ensemble tracks in Legally and Mamma Mia has more tanned people that you'll ever see in your life. Both great fun to do!

  • How would you describe Legally Blonde and your character?

My track is quite varied. I play Sundeep & Nikos as well as various ensemble bits here and there which keeps it interesting.

  • Do you have any upcoming projects?

One coming in the pipeline but hasn't been announced yet.

 Stage Door Joe:

My name is Joseph; I am a Musical Theatre degree student. I am passionate about musicals, if you can't already tell! I have had the opportunity to see many musicals both in London and touring productions. Those who know me will recognise that I can often be spotted at the stage door, meeting cast members and grabbing a selfie or two. I shall use this as a platform to review musicals and keep regular updates from in and around the West End.
